The Junior Biological Material Movement Coordinator (BMMC) ensures all biological R&D shipments are in compliance with company policies and local and international rules and enables R&D to meet project timelines. Where needed, support is given to facilitate pre-commercial and commercial shipments as well. The junior BMMC provides expertise to company persons planning and moving biological material within, into or out of the country by maintaining procedures, providing advice, applying for certificates or permits, organizing shipment for customs clearance and ensuring traceability of the material occurs. The junior BMMC leads efforts to restore compliance and ensure impounded materials are released and properly routed, under the guidance of a BMMC or Senior BMMC.

What you can expect:
- You are responsible for legal, regulatory, and customs compliance of shipment documents and you ensure all approvals are in place on both the shipping and receiving end for biological movements.
- You facilitate acquisition of required permits and certificates (GMO, phytosanitary, Nagoya Protocol or the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture, tax, etc.).
- Under the guidance of a BMMC or Senior BMMC, you create and improve procedures for moving material within, into and out of the countries, and you monitor and review local regulatory requirements.
- You inform relevant staff of the need for program adaptation.
- You provide training on procedures to the organization.
- You advise and ensure that biological materials are packaged, labelled, shipped, and tracked in accordance with all applicable internal and external requirements.
- This includes recommending on procurement of specific materials needed for shipping to be available at each shipping site.
- You collaborate with BASF Customs & Foreign Trade, brokers and transportation companies to facilitate transportation of material and customs clearance.
- Furthermore, you follow up and work closely with local teams on planning biological material movements to ensure R&D and commercial timelines are met.
- You offer biosafety operational support for IC Gent.

Who you are:
- You have a PhD or Master with a minimum of 2 years experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 5-8 years work experience, in a life science domain (e.g. biotechnology, biology, microbiology, bio-engineering).
- IATA certified shipper recommended, with at least 1 year of experience in sending and receiving biological materials.
- You are experienced with securing phytosanitary certificates, certificates of origin, and preparing documents.
- You understand or are able to rapidly learn biosafety, stewardship, and regulatory principles.
- Additionally, you have experience applying practical problem-solving skills to resolve shipping and stewardship non-conformances with a Team.
- Experience with handling biological material in a lab, greenhouse and/or field Station experience is preferred.
- Prior work with global & diverse teams as well as with regulatory agencies is a plus.
- Preferably you speak Dutch.
