We are seeking a professional to join our team as a Global Digital Product Owner. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and driving the development of digital products to implement our global and multi-year Digital Roadmap for Seeds & Traits R&D within the Agricultural Solutions business of BASF. Additionally, a key responsibility for this role is managing the digital product lifecycle.

In this role, in tight collaboration with our international team, you will enable BASF to bring innovation and deploy Breeding digital products in (predictive) breeding and trait development projects. Robust and innovative breeding pipelines are critical for effective and efficient decision making in Seeds & Traits R&D, to accelerate product development and strengthen BASF’s competitive advantage in the seeds business. This is a global function; the place of employment can be Belgium, but also the US. Your work will contribute to BASF’s innovative Seeds & Traits to help farmers sustainably feed and clothe the world, the biggest job on earth.

Responsibilities

  • You will participate in a high-performance project team, and actively co-lead projects using an analytical mindset from functional analysis and technical analysis to implementation, user test, and rollout, addressing impacts to other projects and dependencies as well as change management with the user community.
  • You will lead teams in effectively reacting to changes in business requirements, changes in relative business priorities for feature implementation, or unanticipated technical issues that arise.
  • You will create future-proof digital solutions that are accepted by the user community and achieve the agreed business outcomes, while being technically & financially sustainable. This gets at the core of your main responsibilities.
  • You will define the product vision in partnership with stakeholders and ensure that the product is continually improved according to prioritized stakeholder requirements, while being maintained as efficiently as possible; this includes managing relationships with any external partners and vendors upon which the product depends.
  • You will set common expectations among the stakeholders and the project team, provide regular updates on progress on milestones, and drive resolution of any issues or conflicts that must be solved to achieve the business outcome.

Qualifications

  • You have a bachelor’s degree with at least 8 years’ experience / Master’s degree with at least 5 years of successful experience in a relevant field of digital life science. You understand business needs/demands & define business requirements at a product level.
  •  You have experience in hands-on, agile project management and the usage of scrum with DevOps teams for implementation.
  •  You have excellent collaboration and communication skills, and the ability to work within global and diverse teams as well as with external partners and vendors where appropriate.
  • Your digital mindset and your passion for improving processes enables you to think out of the box.
