As Head of Regulatory Science Seeds & Traits Belgium, you will lead and provide strong operational support for the Regulatory Science S&T teams in Belgium to ensure the license to operate from a regulatory safety perspective for the S&T portfolio and support timely registrations of new BASF S&T products by delivering regulatory data, reports and safety assessments.

Responsibilities

  • You lead and manage leaders of key regulatory science disciplines in Belgium: Molecular Characterization and Bioinformatics, Protein Production and Characterization, Laboratory operations, Regulatory Data & Resource management and Reference Material Management.
  • You manage assigned departmental budgets and associated CAPEX to ensure the accuracy and proper allocation of resources.
  • You drive operational excellence and promote development using HR tools and other instruments when necessary and ensure succession and talent plans in line with business goals.
  • You safeguard continuity and competitiveness by developing Regulatory Science strategy for responses to existing and emerging regulatory science related questions through recommendations and policy documents.You ensure effective collaboration and communication between Regulatory Science teams and Product Safety, Regulatory Affairs managers and Program Leaders to correctly plan and perform all preliminary and GLP regulatory studies needed for the registration of BASF S&T products.
  • You actively drive cross functional collaborations with APP (TR), CP (RS) and other functions and ensure knowledge and best practice sharing and problem solving.
  • You act as a Lead Test Facility Manager and ensure compliance with Principles of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • You strengthen and maintain a strong Quality management program and culture including Quality Assurance and associated trained personnel in compliance with Principles of GLP.
  • You ensure compliance with BASF and regulatory safety, biosafety and stewardship standards and traceability through quality management and laboratory information systems.

Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent through experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in life sciences with sound knowledge of relevant regulations related especially to seed biotech products
  • People management and budgeting/resource management skills, and preferably experience with leading other leaders and laboratory operations
  • Knowledge of GLP Quality Management Systems
  • Innovative, result-driven and open-minded
  • Excellent networking skills and ability to establish strong internal and external network with partners in the relevant field.
