To strengthen our Regulatory Science Seeds & Traits team and support further development and global deregulation of seed and trait agriculture products across crops, we are looking for a Scientist to join our Protein Production and characterization group in Zwijnaarde.

Responsibilities

  • You develop and implement protein production strategies in close collaboration with cross-functional team members and based on agreed business and global project needs
  • You collaborate with sourcing and product safety managers to oversee the timely commissioning of protein production packages with Contract Research Organizations (CROs)
  • You serve as the study monitor, writing and reviewing protocols and reports, interpreting the data and defining the next steps to meet global project objectives
  • You stay informed of relevant literature, new science and technology and exploit them to continuously improve functional area capabilities
  • You keep documentation of experimental design, results and conclusions and communicate and present findings and challenges on a regular basis in internal multidisciplinary project meetings
  • You interact regularly with colleagues from different global units and external collaborators
  • You resolve any ongoing technical challenges in collaboration with others
  • You are a member of the GLP Test Facility and may serve as a GLP Study Director and/ or work as GLP analyst when needed

Qualifications

  • PhD in Biochemistry, Plant Biology, or other relevant field, with minimum 5 years of experience in academia or industry.
  • Has proven knowledge of protein biochemistry and enzymology.
  • Has recent hands-on experience and expertise in laboratory protein analytical methods including but not limited to protein expression and purification, quantitation, immunological detection, and functional activity assays.
  • Has demonstrated “Attention to detail” aptitude. Ability to solve technical issues with appropriate experimental design and execution.
  • Able to collaborate with global teams for technical knowledge sharing and participate and, in some cases, lead cross functional global teams to brainstorm/ troubleshoot challenges in the area of responsibility.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned projects including mid- to long-term planning.
  • Has experience in selecting appropriate CROs and serving as the primary point of contact for CROs, ensuring effective communication, coordination and oversight to ensure successful collaboration and timely completion of projects.
  • Able to communicate with ease verbally and in written form with any available communication platforms.
